Marquette Loses OT Heartbreaker; 0-3 On Trip

The Marquette Redmen lost their third straight game on their trip to southern Michigan Saturday, falling to the Trenton Trojans, 3-2, in overtime. Johnathon Miller scored with 16 seconds left in OT to give Trenton the win. Kyle Carriere and Brett Love scored the Redmen goals.
Marquette hosts Houghton on Thursday.

Calumet Settles For Tie In Another Wild Finish

The Calumet Copper Kings played another wild offensive game on Saturday at the MIHL Showcase in downstate Trenton. After losing 6-5 to Birmingham Brother Rice on Friday, the Kings played to a 6-6 overtime tie with Grosse Pointe North Saturday.
Six different Calumet players scored goals in the game, and the Kings were 17 seconds away from victory when Norseman Brad Werenski scored to send the game into overtime. Sault High Drops Showcase Game To GRCC

Eric Hillock and Kyle Teneyck scored goals for the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils on Saturday, but Grand Rapids Catholic Central scored the final four goals and won the game, 6-2. The Soo finishes the Showcase with a split, after beating Port Huron North on Friday. GRCC's Matt Kryzkwa had a hat trick in Saturday's contest. Southgate Goalie Muzzles Eskymos In Trenton
The Escanaba Eskymos fired 31 shots on goal...including 20 in the second period...but lost to the Southgate Titans, 2-1, Saturday at the MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase in downstate Trenton. Titan goaltender Hunter Smith was the difference, making 30 saves. Josh Miller scored Escanaba's only goal.

Calumet Loses Wild Game To Brother Rice, 6-5

Arguably the best high school player in the Upper Peninsula didn't get the chance to show his stuff for a full game Friday at the MIHL Showcase in Trenton. Calumet junior Ben Johnson scored a goal and an assist, but spent 12 minutes in the penalty box after getting a checking from behind penalty and a misconduct. Calumet lost to Birmingham Brother Rice, 6-5. Kirby Frantti scored two goals in a losing effort. Levi Erkkila had a goal and assist.

Marquette Offense Shut Down By Detroit CC

The Marquette Redmen lost for the second straight day on this southern Michigan roadtrip, falling to the powerful Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks, 3-0, at the MIHL Showcase in Trenton. Marquette goaltender Mike McAuliffe made numerous tough saves to keep his team in a scoreless tie, but DCC eventually got two goals from Nolan Gluchowski in the late part of the second period. Sault Ste. Marie Shuts Down Port Huron North

The Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils scored three power play goals in the first period and beat the Port Huron North Huskies, 3-0, at the MIHL Showcase Friday in Trenton. Ryan Dalskey, Sean McGahey, and Eric Hillock scored for Sault High. Cody Jodoin stopped 22 shots in net to earn the shutout. Sault High outshot Port Huron, 43-22.

Esky Beats Allen Park For First Showcase Win

The Escanaba High School hockey team bounced back from Thursday's disappointing loss and posted a 5-3 win over the Allen Park Jaguars Friday at the MIHL Showcase in downstate Trenton. Jared Dagenais scored on a penalty shot, and Ryan LaMarch scored the game winning goal with 4:25 left in the third period. Marquette Rally Comes Up Short vs Lake Orion


The Marquette Redmen battled hard against the Lake Orion Dragons Thursday night, but came up a goal short, 3-2, at the Michigan Public High School Hockey Showcase in Chelsea. The Redmen will play at the MIHL Showcase in Trenton on Friday and Saturday, with Friday's contest against powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central.

Utica Eisenhower Tops Eskymos At Showcase

The Escanaba High School hockey team opened a three-game road trip to southern Michigan with a 6-2 loss to Utica Eisenhower at the Michigan Public High School Hockey Showcase in Chelsea. Jake Eastin and Ryan LaMarch scored for the Eskymos to tie the game at 2-2, but the Eagles scored four unanswered goals.
